Academy Internet today announced that it ranks number 34 in the 2007 Deloitte Technology Fast 50, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the UK. Rankings are based on average percentage revenue growth over five years.

Academy Learning Ltd, trading as Academy Internet, ranked the highest of any Sussex technology company and 7th in the South East. The company is one of a clutch of digital marketing, search engine optimisation and e-learning businesses to make it into the Deloitte Technology Fast 50. The average 5 year growth in turnover of a Deloitte Fast 50 technology company is 2451%.

Academy Internet’s Managing Director Jason Woodford commented, “This prestigious award on our 5th birthday illustrates that responsible business practices can deliver impressive financial returns. We’re now looking forward to executing the ambitious next phase of our business plan.”

“Growing the top line enough to make the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 is especially meaningful during competitive times for the technology sector,” said Simon Kerton-Johnson, Chairman of Deloitte’s UK & Ireland Fast 50. “We congratulate Academy Internet on becoming one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies.”

“Because the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 measures sustained revenue growth over five years, being one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the UK is an impressive achievement,” said Deloitte Technology partner for the South East. “Academy Internet deserves a lot of credit for its remarkable growth.”

The Academy Internet team has grown from 2 to 25 staff with turnover increasing at rates of between 36% and 88% since 2002. The company is building a digital super agency in Brighton and is currently in advanced negotiations to secure a blend of equity and debt funding to both consolidate its position and to enable a series of pre-identified mergers and acquisitions in the local digital media community to take place.

Jason Woodford went on to say, “Academy Internet is primed to capitalise on the rapid consolidation currently taking place in our two high growth marketplaces of e-learning and internet marketing. As champions of responsible business, our award winning experts offer breadth and depth in digital consultancy, internet marketing, social and organisational communications and learning. I’m immensely proud of what our team has achieved and their enthusiasm, capability and commitment to quality and customer satisfaction has started to pay dividends.”
