PriceRunner.co.uk and the Energy Saving Trust announce a new online alliance which sees the launch of the UK’s first energy saving recommended product and price comparison search engine. The new online facility at www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/compare is the first time the organisations have collaborated.

Under the new agreement, from 23rd November PriceRunner.co.uk, the UK’s most comprehensive and impartial price comparison service provides the Energy Saving Trust, the leading independent organisation which helps consumers take action to save energy, with extensive pricing data to power its Energy Saving Recommended database.

At the same time on www.pricerunner.co.uk, all Energy Saving Recommended (ESR) products will carry the ESR logo alongside the product information.

The Energy Saving Trust’s online database comprises of products which have been signed up to the Energy Saving Recommended endorsement scheme. From launch the new search facility will allow people to search hundreds of retailers in the following product categories: dishwashers, freezers, fridge-freezers, tumble dryers, TVs and washing machines. More products will be gradually added to expand the search facility in 2008.

Philip Sellwood, Chief Executive of the Energy Saving Trust commented:
“Our new partnership with PriceRunner.co.uk means that for the first time, users of the Energy Saving Recommended database will be able to not only search and compare Energy Saving Recommended products but can also review and purchase goods easily and quickly, thereby directly converting their interest in Energy Saving Recommended products in to action.”

Mattias Berg, Managing Director of PriceRunner.co.uk, commented:
“This unique relationship with the Energy Saving Trust is very good news for us as we strive to help consumers become more environmentally aware for the long term. The Energy Saving Recommended logo exists to inform consumers about products’ superior energy efficiency, and we are proud to be supporting their ambition to create a nation of environmentally aware consumers.”

About the Energy Saving Recommended Endorsement Scheme
Run by the Energy Saving Trust, ‘Energy Saving Recommended’ is a product certification scheme that identifies the most energy efficient products on the market. Launched in 2000, only products that have met set criteria can apply. The Energy Saving Recommended logo appears on a wide range of certified products – from kettles to fridges to IDTVs. The Scheme therefore ensures that the most energy efficient products become easily identifiable to consumers.
