Julie Howell, Director of Accessibility at digital design agency Fortune Cookie, will provide key insights into how charities can deliver accessible information through effective web strategy at a seminar hosted by the Media Trust in London today (20 March 2008).

Web managers from the voluntary sector will learn about processes they can put in place to ensure that disabled people can use the websites they create. Participants will:

• Learn about some of the challenges their target audiences may have in accessing their website
• Find out what their current legal obligations are and when to seek external support
• Understand the low cost solutions that can be built into their communications strategy
• Consult with the experts on how accessible their communications currently are
• Understand the necessities of consulting disabled people
• Hear about the resources available to support them in improving their accessibility

Speaking about the seminar, Julie Howell said: “Fortune Cookie is really pleased to support the excellent work of the Media Trust which provides the voluntary sector with excellent, affordable opportunities to consult with industry experts through these seminars. I’m really looking forward to sharing our expertise in accessible web design and pointing charities in the direction of low cost resources and guidance.”

Fortune Cookie designs websites for a number of charities, including Diabetes UK, Amnesty International and Oxfam International. In 2007, Fortune Cookie won the ‘Best Website’ Awards at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Excellence Awards for the site it produced for Diabetes UK.
