Asda Walmart has appointed leading search marketing agency Greenlight to handle the search engine optimisation for seven of its online brands, including Asda Travel, Asda Entertainment and Asda Electricals.

The appointment continues Asda’s relationship with Greenlight, which has managed the SEO activity for Asda Financial Services since December 2006. This move marks Asda’s first foray into search engine optimisation for its additional brands.

The agency will apply a full SEO campaign to all the sites, with the explicit aim of improving and broadening the brand’s rankings in natural search across the major search engines. The process involves positively impacting on the on-page relevancy and link popularity of the sites.

Andreas Pouros, managing director, SEO, at Greenlight, said: “We are really pleased that Asda has decided to roll out an SEM campaign to other areas of its business. Asda is a fantastic company to work with and we look forward to delivering search marketing success to its vertical brands.”

Chris Dalrymple, online marketing manager at Asda, added: “Our online asset brands are a key part of our business, which is why it makes sense to extend our SEM campaign to incorporate them. Greenlight’s wealth of experience in this field makes them an ideal partner in helping us to maximise our brand visibility through the search engine marketing medium.”

Recent Greenlight wins include Radisson and American Express.
