Susan Hallam has been short listed as a national finalist in the BlackBerry Women & Technology Awards 2008.

Susan is the founder of Hallam Communications Ltd (http://www.shcl.co.uk), an Internet marketing training and consultancy agency based in Nottingham, UK.

The BlackBerry awards aim to celebrate women who have demonstrated passion and dedication in their lives and work through the innovative use of technology. They are currently the only awards that specifically recognise the role of women in the technology sector.

Susan has been nominated for the “Best Female Mentor” award, recognising leadership and inspiration to others in the field or use of technology.

On learning that she had been shortlisted, Susan said “I’m absolutely delighted to be considered for the award. Being a woman working in the almost predominantly male field of computing has never been an issue to me, and we need to encourage more women to recognise the opportunities offered by utilising new technologies.

“It is vitally important for businesses to make the right decisions when planning their use of the Internet, and I’m pleased that my contribution to businesses has been recognised.

“Hallam’s business model is based on sharing experience and expertise, and providing leadership to businesses who are developing their Internet strategy. The most rewarding part of my job is seeing businesses flourish as a direct result of our strategic planning.”

The other shortlisted nominees are Dell Computers (Kate Bishop) and Aircomm International (Margaret Rice-Jones.)

The awards ceremony will take place in London on 6 May 2008.
