Sapient (Nasdaq: SAPE) today announced it has named Ronald Shamah vice president of global media services. Shamah is charged with leading the company’s four domains of media services, including media strategy, planning, buying and operations. Shamah, a former vice president at Citigroup, is based in Sapient’s New York offices.

Shamah’s appointment will allow Sapient Interactive to further expand the depth and breadth of its online and offline media capabilities, according to Sapient chief creative officer Gaston Legorburu. A well-known interactive marketing and media expert, Shamah brings a track record of success in creating marketing programs and processes that drive customer acquisition, satisfaction and retention to Sapient. During his tenure at Citigroup, Shamah drove a series of highly successful online marketing and branding campaigns – all of which generated outstanding rates of customer acquisition and retention for the financial services firm.

“By merging creative, marketing, technology and media expertise into one cohesive service offering, Sapient has established a real leadership position in the global interactive industry,” said Legorburu. “Ron will play an integral role in helping Sapient uphold this model by delivering customised and integrated online and offline campaigns that drive demonstrable and repeatable results for leading brands.”

Shamah has fifteen years of professional experience, with eight years in marketing, online advertising, customer acquisition and business development. During his tenure at Citigroup, he played a lead role in the Citibank Direct team that developed the popular e-Savings product. In this position, he was responsible for marketing and business development functions.

“Sapient brings to each client the full spectrum of disciplines necessary to launch and maintain a multichannel campaign capable of driving brand awareness. This is what really separates Sapient from the pack,” said Shamah. “I now look forward to bringing my experiences to the team and helping the company to continue redefining the interactive industry’s model of success.”

Shamah holds an MBA from the Peter J. Tobin School of Business at St. John’s University.
