Half a million subscribers receive daily email updates from popular Italian activist

Beppegrillo.it , the widely read blog of the Italian activist, comedian and actor, publicises new posts using email marketing software from online marketing specialist Lyris UK (www.lyris.co.uk). Around half a million subscribers per day receive the newsletter with the new daily content.

Grillo's blog is currently ranked the 17th most visited blog in the world by web authority, Technorati. Updated daily, it has Italian, English and Japanese language versions and each post generates about 2000 comments. Grillo is a popular figure both in his native Italy and beyond. He was selected by Time magazine as one of its “European Heroes 2005” for his ongoing battle against corruption and financial scandals.

Lyris' email marketing tool, ListManager, was selected by Italian internet strategy consultancy Casaleggio Associati (www.casaleggio.it) as part of its work to promote Beppe Grillo's online profile. Emails are sent out in Italian, English and Japanese to reflect the different language versions of the blog. As well as informing subscribers about Grillo's latest post, the daily email newsletter includes the best comment and photo from the previous day, both of which are provided by and voted for by readers.
