The Search Works seeks out best of breed search marketers

17th July 2008, London, UK – The Search Works, the UK’s largest search engine marketing company, today announces its plans for a new placement programme to seek out and nurture talent in digital marketing. The programme aims to build the skills of budding marketers, encourage under-graduates to explore search marketing as a career and combat the industry-wide skills shortage from entry level.

Search and Employ which is being conducted in association with the Aston Business School in Birmingham, will aim to open doors for future digital marketers and give them the best possible grounding in the industry.

The selected candidates will go through a thorough three week immersion period to get them up to speed with the company, industry and type of work they will be doing. Following this, the applicant will complete Study Search, a series of internal training sessions to further build their knowledge before a proficiency test after three months to find any information and skills gaps that will need filling with extra training and coaching. These skills audits will allow The Search Works to formulise future training plans and define development programmes for all of its employees.

Once fully integrated into the company, the candidates will undertake the Google Advertising Professionals (GAP) exam which all client services staff working for The Search Works sit to assess their credentials.

Jo Styles, operations director for The Search Works says, “This programme is all about finding great people early on and offering an exciting, completely different type of business for graduates to move into. The people we choose will become real employees with real responsibilities in the company and they will be trained from the outset and moulded to The Search Works’ way of doing business – the right way!”

The placement candidate will be able to move around all departments of The Search Works’ business acting as an account executive. These areas will include editorial management, new business, account management and marketing. They will also be given a mentor and line manager that they will meet with regularly to assess their development and talk through any issues that may arise, further reflecting the company’s ‘team’ ethos.

The Search Works’ first graduate is due to start in August and will remain with the company for one year before returning to university.
