CELLSTAR TEAMS WITH LEADING EUROPEAN MEDIA COMPANY BUONGIORNO TO DELIVER WORLD CLASS MOBILE MEDIA SOLUTIONS
Industry leaders join forces to provide innovative mobile media content,
delivery and support services.
CellStar Corporation (NASDAQ:CLST), a value-added wireless logistics services leader, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Buongiorno Vitaminic SpA (Italy, Nuovo Mercato: BVIT) to distribute mobile media solutions in North America, Latin America and China.
Buongiorno is the leading European digital media company in design, production and distribution of multimedia content mainly in the field of entertainment services to the wireless industry.
"CellStar’s expansion into the mobile media arena illustrates our commitment to expand our product line to our worldwide distribution partners," said Robert Kaiser, CellStar‘s chief executive officer. "Teaming with a leading provider of mobile media content not only allows us to expand our product line into ringtones, screensavers and games, but it also gives Buongiorno the opportunity to expand their presence into other markets."
In addition to digital content, Buongiorno will provide Cellstar with its expertise in delivering and offering interactive mobile services, and also its know-how in creating and positioning products and content for mobile phones, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and the management of databases for clients. Buongiorno is the only media company to cover the entire Interactive Mobile Services value chain providing not only the media content, but also the carrier grade platform necessary for delivery to mobile devices through proprietary applications, messaging and SMS and MMS platform management.
"The deal signed with Cellstar provides Buongiorno a great opportunity to enter the growing mobile US market", said Andrea Casalini, chief executive officer of Buongiorno Vitaminic SpA. "We’re very excited about this agreement. Buongiorno’s expertise in rolling out mobile services with leading telecommunications and media and entertainment companies, together with CellStar’s established relationships with numerous carriers, big box retailers and key manufacturers in North America, Latin America and China – make this partnership a perfect fit."
The addition of the Buongiorno mobile media platform is a natural extension of CellStar’s value added services offering that today provides retail and carrier partners with wireless product and logistics solutions. Through its relationship with Buongiorno, CellStar will be able to provide a wealth of content options and virtually instant mobile media, allowing our partners to offer their customers the entertainment and information they want at speeds previously unavailable.
"We have seen the significant demand that consumers in Europe have for downloading media onto their mobile phones. The initial launch of the Buongiorno service in the U.S. market is an exciting opportunity for our customers to quickly and cost effectively meet the growing demand here in the U.S.," said Chris Smith, senior vice president and general manager of CellStar’s U.S. region. "Buongiorno has agreements with 1,500 record companies that provide over 400,000 downloadable music tracks. We believe that the leading European provider -- Buongiorno -- is the perfect partner to give our customers a content-rich, carrier-grade battle-tested solution."
The breadth of mobile-ready content, coupled with a universal means of access and delivery, offers CellStar’s partners a robust engine for defining and implementing a mobile media strategy.
In addition to mobile media platform services, CellStar’s partners will have the ability to create handset/content bundles. Using CellStar’s fulfillment services, retailers, manufacturers and carriers will have the opportunity to pre-load content or to pre-program a browser onto handsets to support targeted promotions, to jump-start data usage, or to create value added packages for their customers.
Telecom Partners Group, LLP facilitated this relationship. CellStar’s new mobile media solutions set is available to its customers now.
