The Association of Online Publishers (AOP) announced the winners of its Online Publishing Awards 2008 at the London Hilton Park Lane last night. The gala event was opened by a “beat-box” set by Beardyman who has spent a hectic summer playing at various festivals including Glastonbury and hosting Fatboy Slim’s Big Beach Boutique in Brighton. The awards were presented by comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli, who wrote the comedy sitcom “Meet the Magoons”.

Highlights of the 16 award winners included:

Reed Business Information which showcased its business mettle by picking up the most gongs, four, across the board for Online Publisher – Business (the second year running), Website – Business, Online Community for B2B site Farmers Weekly Interactive and Online Advertising Sales Team – Business.

IPC won three awards for Cross-Media Project, Research & Insights Project (one of the AOP’s new categories), and Editorial Team – Consumer.

BSkyB took both Online Publisher - Consumer and Website – Consumer accolades.

Beardyman
Beardyman, in the absence of a worthy challenger for his UK Beatboxing Champion title, Beardyman has retired from competing and has spent his time gigging all over the World, developing and perfecting a ground breaking new live set up, writing material, and presiding over an ever growing army of blogging fans.

Summer 08 has seen him storm every European festival worth its salt. Hardeep Singh Kohli
Hardeep Singh Kohli is a multi-talented man. He wrote, directed and starred in the sitcom Meet the Magoons; took a wry look at sex, race, pets, religion and family in Hardeep Does; made poker semi-respectable in �50 Says You'll Watch This; and reached the final of Celebrity Masterchef.

Hardeep has since cooked his way around the sub-Continent and written about his experiences in Indian Takeaway. His current remit extends from reports for The One Show to serving on the judging panel for the Man Booker Prize. He also occasionally pops up on Newsnight Review, Midweek and Question Time.
