It was not only the record number of 20,000 visitors on both trade show days and the 380 exhibitors that left a lasting impression: The online-marketing-düsseldorf broke new ground in respect of its quality: The exhibitors, conference programme and organization all fulfilled the most stringent demands – according to the first detailed visitor survey review of the online-marketing-düsseldorf 2008 which was carried out by the consulting company Claus Bühs Consulting from Krefeld in Germany.

Online-marketing-düsseldorf is the trade show for advertising and marketing experts. 93.2% stated to have either a direct or indirect influence on media services purchasing. “The remarkable thing is that this result remains consistent despite increased visitor numbers. The exhibition has developed to an industry .`must-attend´”, says Alexander Felsenberg, Director Tradeshows New Media of the IGEDO Company. Visitor quality and frequency have developed hand-in-hand. More and more executives are choosing the online-marketing-düsseldorf as their central information platform. Approximately a third of the exhibition visitors belong to their company management team. Decision-makers are spending two days at the exhibition One day at the exhibition is no longer adequate to attain in-depth information. Thus, the number of visitors spending both days at the exhibition rose to almost 48%. This compares with just 43% in the previous year. The extended programme with conference, workshops, the conference forum and screenings contributed just as much to the development as well as the increased exhibitor presence and the 360 degree digital marketing focus.
The most important message to the exhibitors: Visitor expectations were completely satisfied. Visitors assessed the exhibitor offering as excellent, giving it an average mark of 1.9: “This is a unique assessment in international comparison”, comments Claus Bühs on the results. Claus Bühs is well in-tune with the international exhibition and conference scene and has been responsible for the market research of the online-marketingdüsseldorf for years. The 360 degree digital marketing presence completely established itself. The depth of this offer combined with the unaltered focus proves to be the central success factor.

Conference Programme Quality unanimously praised

The conference was able to increase strongly again in terms of its importance. The visitor share has increased not only relatively compared to the previous year but also the increase in absolute terms is remarkable. More than 10,500 guests followed one of the presentation formats on offer. The conference programme quality is reflected by the excellent average mark of 1.9 and thus also rose. Both the focus on themes and its cluster were seen very positively.
Visitors dismiss splitting exhibition: 74% will come back again in 2009

The majority of visitors stated that the exhibition completed the requirement of giving a market overview. This was both supported and completed by the 360 degree focus. The orientation demands increase with the once again higher numbers of first-time visitors. All visitors found it important to build business relations. Three quarters of the visitors have already decided to return next year. Taking this into account, visitors are very critical on splitting the exhibition. Many visitors fear most of all the negative consequences of internationalization. None of the 200 visitors found the splitting to be right.
