Beautique.com invites customers to write product reviews; implementing Bazaarvoice’s social commerce technology in time for the Christmas shopping season.

Beautique.com, the online retail arm of exclusive salon group Urban Retreat located in Harrods and Harvey Nichols, is introducing a customer review service to help the site evolve into a content-led beauty portal.

Customers will be invited to review their purchases, which in turn will also aid buying decisions and grow sales. The site will implement Bazaarvoice’s ratings and reviews platform over the Christmas shopping season to initially capture the opinions of a large number of shoppers.

Beautique.com sells high-end luxury beauty brands, and appeals to discerning beauty buyers of all ages. The company wants to differentiate itself from other online hair and beauty product retailers by providing valuable user generated content and how-to video demonstrations.

“Christmas is naturally our busiest time of year and we want to capture as many reviews as possible to get the service off to a good start,” said Jason Russell, General Manager of Beautique.com. “In 12 months time we want to be providing a huge amount of beauty content and more than double our customer base.”

“Companies who don’t give customers a chance to air their views on their own sites will ultimately get left behind. Nowadays with online retail, good content will differentiate you from your competitors,” Russell continued.

Sam Decker, Chief Marketing Officer at Bazaarvoice said: “Reviews generate trust. Not only will they enhance Beautique’s customer experience, they also provide additional content and have a big SEO impact. Ultimately, relevant content gives sites credibility.”
