Box UK is pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted for the 2009 Computer Weekly Best Places to Work in IT Awards, which will be awarded on May 22nd at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.

There are eight award categories spanning different kinds of IT work places from service suppliers and manufacturers to government and public services bodies. Box UK is among eight shortlisted in the IT Software and Hardware Suppliers category. Nominees in other categories include Procter & Gamble, Sainsbury’s and KPMG.

According to Computer Weekly, “This year, we have had more entries than ever, from a wider range of companies, and so any firm making the shortlist has done extremely well to become a finalist.”

Finalists and award recipients are judged based on anonymous questionnaires filled out by employers and employees to give judges a comprehensive picture of the work environment. Questions address a variety of issues including the rate of turnover, recruitment plans, average training per employee investment and benefits.

“Being judged by your own employees is THE most powerful measure of employer success. At Computer Weekly we know it works as we have used this process across other markets including construction and HR,” said Brian McKenna, Editor of Computer Weekly. “In these markets the employee opinion reports have become a valued part of the HR function, giving every firm plenty of ideas about how their employees feel they could improve – as well as identifying what they like about working there.”

Box UK is committed to creating an environment where employees thrive. This includes encouraging team members to use the tools they are most comfortable with to do their jobs, supporting training and professional development opportunities, and providing a range of benefits such as flexi-time, private healthcare and healthy snacks.
