LONDON, 11.05.2009: GSI Commerce, the full service provider of end-to-end ecommerce and multichannel retail services, today announced it has appointed Bart Swanson as Managing Director, International, Business Management and Strategy.

Swanson will work alongside existing clients in the EMEA region advising them on how to develop all aspects of their e-commerce and multichannel operations, developing brand-driven business plans to ensure that they maximise sales and foster customer loyalty across all channels. GSI Commerce’s clients include Casual Male, Reiss, HP Europe, Early Learning Centre and Peacocks.

Swanson is recognised as an expert in pan-European ecommerce and as the General Manager, Business Development at Amazon.com he helped develop Amazon’s pan-European expansion strategy, and was one of the key executives responsible for launching the business in Germany, France and the UK. Prior to his appointment at GSI Commerce, he was a co-Founder of Dropshop Ltd., a Munich based European online selling service and previously, he held the post of Managing Director at EMI Music France. He has also held senior positions at EMI Music Europe and Bertelsmann AG in France and the UK.

Over the last 12 months, acting as a consultant, Swanson has played a key role in aiding some of GSI Commerce’s leading US and EU clients to develop international online strategies.
