T.G.I. Friday’s Christmas campaign acknowledged in Best use of Video category

London 18 June, 2009… Independent digital agency Blue Barracuda has been short-listed for a New Media Age Effectiveness Award. The agency was nominated for ‘Best Use of Video’ for its campaign to drive Christmas party bookings for T.G.I. Friday’s.

The campaign used creative produced by Blue Barracuda, across a range of media planned and negotiated by the agency. It centred on a video which demonstrated the party atmosphere at Friday’s in an easy-to-share format. Produced by Blue Barracuda, the video was shot on location at T.G.I. Friday’s’ Lakeside restaurant, featuring real staff and customers. The agency built a microsite featuring information on menus, cocktails and send-to-a-friend features which visitors could also use to find their nearest restaurant and book a table.

The microsite was promoted with a range of online advertising, search engine marketing and CRM activity. Media activity combined behaviourally targeted display activity on advertising networks DRIVEPM and Specific Media with search on Google, Yahoo! and MSN. Email marketing also drove targeted traffic through to the campaign microsite.

Martin Talks, CEO of Blue Barracuda, comments, ‘This nomination acknowledges the work of the whole team at Blue Barracuda, who pulled together to create an engaging video and microsite with a quick turnaround, and integrated online display, search, and social media marketing to optimise the budget. We exceeded the client objectives by delivering three times as many bookings as expected.”

Darrell Wade, Marketing Director, T.G.I. Friday’s added, “Blue Barracuda produced a very effective campaign that combined creativity with media directly targeted at our audience. The video encapsulated our brand values perfectly, highlighting the party atmosphere at Friday’s where friends and colleagues can have fun together with lasting memories.”
