International search engine optimisation specialists Oban Multilingual have been shortlisted for the Brighton and Hove Business Awards’ (BAHBAs) Equality and Diversity in the work place award.

Also shortlisted for the award were the Brighton Pier and Working Links. In total, 37 companies were shortlisted in 16 different categories for the 2009 BAHBAs, which will take place Friday, October 9th at the Brighton Hilton Metropole.

It’s not the first time Oban has been recognized for its multicultural affinity: just last year, the Argus ran a story featuring Oban as boasting one of the most multicultural workplaces in England.

Oban embraces its multicultural staff, with employees from all over the world, including China, Russia, India, Iran, Canada, Brazil, Poland, Germany, and more.

Oban’s MD, Greig Holbrook says that Oban strives to keep its scope as international as possible, “Often in the middle of the work day,” he says, “someone will announce a fun fact about a random country, like ‘did you know that 49 percent of Russians prefer to use the internet for dating?’ and everyone will stop and absorb this fact, and really appreciate it. We love stuff like that.”
