The Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation – NRK – has chosen Polopoly as the central content management system to power the NRK teletext, digital TV teletext, mobile services and the public websites.
NRK is Norway’s largest content producer with a strong presence in all media channels: Internet, teletext, mobile services, TV and radio. By migrating to Polopoly the objective is to make the distribution of NRK’s content to the Norwegian public more efficient.
“Polopoly will become the central console in the management of NRK content. It is a versatile and high-performance tool, which enables us to smoothly create and manage content for all our digital output channels”, says Are Nundal, NRK.no editor-in-chief. “It feels invigorating to utilize a technology which is undergoing such rapid development – and where development is carried out in close co-operation with us and other demanding customers.”
In Sweden, Polopoly dominates the market for larger web sites. In the media vertical, Polopoly is used by five of the six largest media players on the Internet – among these are the Swedish Television, SVT, who also uses Polopoly to power the teletext and digital TV services. With NRK in the client portfolio, Polopoly will have a strong foundation to further expand upon the Norwegian market.
“NRK combines two key qualities: size and innovation. At present, I don’t see many media companies in the world with such an ability to innovate as NRK has done, for example when it comes to developing mobile services”, says Gustaf Sahlman, Polopoly CEO.
The NRK implementation will be spearheaded by Polopoly’s Norwegian partner, Tarantell, one of Norway’s leading firms in regards to creating advanced Internet solutions.
Polopoly is a fast growing, profitable Swedish company that develops platform independent systems for Content Management, personalization and commerce. Clients include some of the main Scandinavian players such as IKEA, SJ (the Swedish railway operator), Apoteket (the Swedish state pharmacy), COOP (Northern Europe retail), the Swedish Television, Dagens Nyheter (Scandinavia’s largest morning newspaper), Aftonbladet (Scandinavia’s largest tabloid), Expressen (Sweden’s second largest tabloid) and the Government Offices of Sweden.
