Box UK (http://www.boxuk.com) is excited to announce our partnership with Gary Vaynerchuk ( http://garyvaynerchuk.com/ ), currently number 18 on Askmen.com’s list of most influential men of 2009, and his world-renowned wine lovers website Cork’d (http://corkd.com/) in the creation of a new iPhone App.

Cork’d was founded in 2006 and was acquired by Gary Vaynerchuk of Vaynermedia (http://vaynermedia.com/) and Wine Library TV (http://tv.winelibrary.com/) in 2007. The site invites users to review, share and discuss wine, while making personal connections with other wine lovers around the world. The iPhone App will add an exciting mobile element to the website, allowing members to look for and share information on wines while out shopping, at the bar or dining at their favourite restaurant.

Box UK has just completed the User Experience Design (http://www.boxuk.com/services/ia/user-experience-design) of the app, working diligently to ensure that the Cork’d App anticipates and responds to the needs of those who will be using it – wine lovers around the world.

“Being asked to design an iPhone app for such a great product is the sort of project designers dream about,” said James Downes, Box UK’s Head of User Experience, fresh from the successful redevelopment of the BCS Chartered Institute of IT’s website, and Box UK’s Amaxus CMS ( http://www.amaxus.com ). “Developing a User Experience for a social application on an iPhone was a thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding challenge, and we know that we’ve designed an app that will be easy to use and will enhance interaction between the Cork’d community. I can’t wait to see it in the App Store.”

“Box UK is so pleased to be working with the Cork’d team. Gary Vaynerchuk is well-known for being passionate about what he does, which has been an inspiring part of this project,” said Benno Wasserstein, Managing Director of Box UK. “We look forward to continuing our work on the wine lovers iPhone app and to future partnerships with Gary and the people at Cork’d.”

“When I first saw the wireframes that Box UK made for Cork’d I almost fainted. The quality was insane,” said Gary Vaynerchuk. He adds, “And the quality of the people involved is better than the work.”

About Gary Vaynerchuk
Gary Vaynerchuk has captured attention with his pioneering, multi-faceted approach to personal branding and business. After primarily utilizing traditional advertising techniques to build his family’s local wine business into a national industry leader, Gary rapidly leveraged social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook to promote Wine Library TV, his video blog about wine. As his viewership swelled to over 80,000 a day, doors opened to a book deal, several national TV appearances, and a flurry of speaking engagements around the world. Gary’s dual identity as both business guru and wine guy has made him the “Social Media Sommelier.” His impact on the wine world has been commemorated via his inclusion in the 2009 Decanter Power List, an index of the 50 most influential figures in the industry. Recently, Gary was named #18 on Askmen.com’s Top 49 Most Influential Men of 2009.

Gary’s landmark seven-figure book deal with Harper Studio was featured in The Wall Street Journal and he was recently profiled by The New York Times and Market Watch. Watch his interview with Business Week for Gary’s advice to entrepreneurs and small businesses.
