Mineola, NY. – August 2009 – Salmon LLC, specialists in delivering eCommerce solutions, today announce they have completed the development of a new transactional website for Sleepy’s - “The Mattress Professionals”, with over 700 stores in 11 states in the Northeast USA. The new website, which replaces a non transactional site, is built on SAFE™ (Salmon’s Application Framework for eCommerce), a fully developed, tested and pre-configured solution which extends IBM’s WebSphere Commerce product.

Chris Cucuzza, VP of Technology, said “Salmon LLC did an excellent job in understanding our business, delivering a solution that matched our specific requirements and delivering a sophisticated new website in a very short time. We have had a great response from customers who like the option of buying online when it suits them. We are already beating forecasted sales and doing better than projected online, taking significant sales through the website in the first 2 weeks and we have no doubt that our eCommerce initiative will contribute to a significant portion of our revenue in 2009 and future revenue growth.”

Salmon LLC, who already had a trusted relationship with Sleepy’s as a result of implementing a custom point of sale (POS) application for all of their 700 stores, developed Sleepys.com in 4 months, providing them with an enterprise scalable solution that will cater to all of their eCommerce needs.

With its functionally rich capability, SAFE™ met the majority of Sleepy’s requirements immediately, allowing them to focus investment on developing custom functionality that would really differentiate their business, helping them to sell more online, providing a great customer experience and, in turn, making them more profitable.

Specialized functionality developed by Salmon LLC allows customers to search for “the perfect mattress” using a simple 3 question quiz, schedule an appointment at a Sleepy’s store and schedule a delivery timeslot that suits them, ranging from next day to 3 weeks out. This functionality, offering a high level of online customer service was key to Sleepy’s business and is expected from customers who already receive this in stores.

Sleepys.com also offers education and advice to those suffering from sleep problems, from its “Sleep Center” section, where it offers guidance on ways to improve sleep. It also has a section where customers can compare mattress material i.e. foam, vs. springs etc, and online chat functionality, allowing customers to interact easily with a Sleepy’s customer service representative.
Searching for products has also been simplified by Salmon LLC with the use of “faceted navigation”, a filtering system, implemented using Solr, an open source enterprise search facility based on the Lucene Java search library.

Salmon LLC was responsible for implementing the entire eCommerce environment, designing and developing the new site and integrating it with Sleepy’s backend ERP system (eBusiness from Oracle). The solution allows Sleepy’s business users to maintain their own content and update the site whenever pricing, promotions, or other details change. Likewise, whenever customers register, or place an order on the website this information is automatically sent to the back-end ERP system ensuring consistency, improved productivity and reduced IT cost and complexity. Sleepy’s can also automatically add, delete or change store information to ensure the Store Locator function is always up to date.

Salmon LLC’s hosting partner Rackspace is responsible for providing backup, monitoring and security 24x7x365.

Nick Rosser, Managing Director, Salmon LLC, Mineola said “We have been working with Sleepy’s since 2005 and were delighted to be selected to develop their new website. Sleepy’s will begin to see the Web as a strategic revenue stream. We look forward to working with them to enhance the customer experience further and to build an even stronger relationship in the future.”

With the new website in place, Sleepy’s plan to enter new markets. They are currently planning to expand their delivery capability, offer accessories, including mattress pads, sheets and pillows, which they will ship throughout the U.S.

About SAFE™
SAFE™ (The Salmon Application Framework for eCommerce) is a series of pre-configured, reusable and customizable eCommerce components which combine with a mature eCommerce project delivery methodology. SAFE™ facilitates the rapid delivery of very sophisticated eCommerce solutions, significantly lowering the risks inherent in launching a new eCommerce capability, or replacing an existing eCommerce platform.

In the interests of customer choice and commercial flexibility, SAFE™ can be implemented in three ways: either as a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, as a starter store with rich 'out-of-the-box' capabilities, or as a framework to support a fully custom and extended eCommerce implementation.
