The SEO experts at Blueclaw Media, the Leeds based internet marketing agency, have won two prestigious DADI trophies at the award ceremony that took place at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Friday 13 November.

The team took home the awards for “Best Use of Organic Search (SEO)” and “Best Use of Paid Search (SEM)”, both awarded for the staggering search engine optimisation success they achieved with one of Europe's largest online golf retailers, www.direct-golf.co.uk.

The DADIs (the abbreviation for The Drum Awards for the Digital Industries) are the ultimate awards for technical and creative talent in the digital industries outside of London with extremely tough entry criteria and a highly competitive selection process. However, Blueclaw Media were one of the few digital marketing agencies that made the grade, beating agency-led campaigns for businesses such as Barclays and Lloyds TSB. For Direct Golf UK, the impressive search engine optimisation campaign created and orchestrated by Blueclaw Media increased non-paid search traffic to their website by over 24% compared to the same period last year. Crucially, this extra traffic provided an increase in sales transactions from this traffic source of over 40%.

Within six months, Blueclaw media cemented top three Google rankings for extremely popular phrases including ‘Golf shoes’, ‘Golf Bags‘ and ‘Golf Clubs’. Plus, traffic increased significantly on other competitive search terms, including “golf balls for sale’ which increased by 685%.

Blueclaw also increased conversion rates for pay per click advertising, (every time a visitor clicks on from a search engine and proceeds through to a sale or information request) by 186%, while reducing the cost per conversion for Direct Golf UK by 76.5%; dramatically improving the value for money of their advertising spend.

“Friday 13 certainly wasn’t unlucky for us!” commented a delighted Fergus Clawson, the Managing Director of <a href="http://www.blueclaw.co.uk">www.blueclaw.co.uk</a&gt;. “There are many digital marketing agencies across the UK and the industry is extremely competitive, so to win a DADI award is a fantastic achievement. We aim to make a real difference to the bottom lines of our clients, so we don’t just work in rankings, site visitors and hits. Our campaigns, including the work for Direct Golf UK, are successful because they produce more customers, increase sales and, hopefully, make our clients more profitable – and this is what sets us apart from the rest.”

Blueclaw Media was set-up in Leeds in 2005 by husband and wife team Fergus and Jenny Clawson. Fergus had worked with the online digital team at the BBC for some time, and was inspired to start a digital marketing business using the search and content expertise he had learned at the BBC. The business, which started at the kitchen table, moved into its current premises on Whitehouse Street in 2007 and now employs ten people. It has grown rapidly over the past couple of years and employs some of the most experienced and specialised SEO experts in the UK, with one new member of staff coming directly from the Google Adwords team and another, the former web manager at ASDA.
