Agency makes new hires from Digitas, TwentySix Digital and moves to larger office premises

Blue Barracuda, has made several strategic hires to increase the independent digital agency’s in-house technical skills. Tom Bentley, formerly Associate Director of Technology at Digitas, is joining as Technical Director, Olivier Hochet joins from TwentySix Digital as Head of Project Management and Neil Fenwick joins from Peabody to be Head of .Net Development.

Reporting to Martin Talks, CEO of Blue Barracuda, Tom Bentley will have overall responsibility for all of Blue Barracuda’s technical activity, ranging from the ordering system on the Pizza Hut Delivery website to eCRM activity and 3D imagery to social media, video and mobile applications for the UK Film Council and cookie and tag management for BAA. Tom brings twelve years of technical expertise gained on projects for brands including Opel (General Motors), Bayer, Renault, The Times, Shell, ACCA and Defra at Digitas and ID Media. He will manage a team including Neil Fenwick who will be responsible for leading projects based Microsoft technologies, open web standards and the Umbraco content management system. Prior to Peabody, Fenwick developed the social networking site for Passado, and worked for Bulldog Communications and FindWhat, formerly MIVA and Espotting.

Former Senior Project Manager at TwentySix Digital, Olivier Hochet, is joining as Head of Project Management with a remit to lead the project management team in producing more quality project for clients as well as delivering the agency’s technology roadmap. An expert in digital production with ten years experience of managing complex multi-disciplinary projects from concept to execution, Hochet’s past work ranges from large CMS-driven and e-commerce solutions to online advertising for clients including Shell, The Royal Navy, Volvo, Travelodge, Barratt Development, FHM and Samsung. To accommodate the agency’s expansion, Blue Barracuda is moving to larger offices in Clerkenwell, London.

Blue Barracuda’s technology includes ‘Discovery’, an online qualitative research platform, designed, built and hosted by the agency, and a variety of bespoke content management systems built for several clients. The agency created interactive media boards at Waterloo station and idents and flash movies shown in BAA-operated airports as well BAA’s passenger facing self-service check in interface. was built for the UK Film Council, aggregating feeds, price comparison tools, alerts and widgets to allow visitors to find any film in the UK in a legal format from download to Blu-ray and the independent agency has also developed well as table booking software for its restaurant clients.

Other technical hires Peter Davenport, who joins as the Project Management department as Resource Manager from Siemens where he managed the BBC account, with responsibility for scheduling resources and maintaining flow of production and recruitment for permanent and freelance staff. Blue Barracuda is recruiting for more technology staff.
