Digital agency Essence ( has been appointed by Moonfruit ( the DIY website building software company, to handle its digital media planning across all channels. The agency has also succeeded in winning the creative brief to execute the brand’s digital advertising.

The appointment follows Moonfruit’s recent $2.25m funding from Stephens to support its plans to dramatically expand its operations and push into new international markets.

Effective from the end of September, the initial brief will see Essence take responsibility for creating the marketing strategy in both the UK and US, which could extend to other markets in the near future.

Essence will create a dynamic digital media plan and advertising campaign to target Moonfruit’s diverse client base. Typical users of its services include small businesses, families, communities, designers, freelancers and any individual who wants to express themselves via a website. To address this, the campaign will combine display, pay-per-click search, Facebook advertising and other biddable media and social media, in order to maximise reach and effectiveness.
