Middlesex University has employed SDL Web Content Management Solutions to deliver a stable and highly cost-effective content management platform for its new web site. The site will become the University’s key communication tool for its 34,000, local and overseas-based students – whilst ensuring that its brand is presented clearly and consistently.

SDL Tridion’s unique BluePrinting capabilities enable the University’s content to be created once and shared in multiple locations around the website - providing inherent process efficiency, consistency and reuse. SDL Tridion allows delegated content owners to update content instantly and content contributors to add and update content in easy-to-use templates. This devolved system also ensures the quality and timeliness of the content.

Richard Garratt, Corporate Marketing Manager for Middlesex University says, “The buy in for the new website has been very positive, it provides a much clearer information pathway for prospective students. The ease of use and speed of updates gives staff more direct ownership over their content and it puts them in control.”

Garratt added, “We wanted a system that was flexible and scalable, that would allow us to manage the Middlesex University brand and provide us with a 'future-proof' tool to meet our immediate and longer-term objectives. SDL Tridion has met these goals. We can now more clearly identify where visitors respond to calls to action and we feel that it is easier for visitors to navigate through and respond to our online content.”

Middlesex University has started the next two phases of their website. This includes an intranet for internal communication as well as a website specifically for enrolled students. Middlesex will also develop future international websites on SDL Tridion. These websites will directly benefit from the shared content from the London campus and from the ability to localise and translate information for those specific locations.

Middlesex University, an internationally recognised university, serves more than 34 000 students in London and abroad. In addition to its London campus, the university has campuses in Dubai and Mauritius and 21 offices around the world. Of the student population, more than one-quarter is from overseas.
