Award-winning UK start-up attracting experienced industry talent

LONDON, 14th December, 2010 – Touchnote, the winning London based start-up that lets you send physical postcards via web or mobile, today announced two key new hires.

Nicholas Babaian was formerly Head of Mobile Product Management at Skype, managing their entire portfolio of mobile products. His career includes stints at Yahoo!, AvantGo and Microsoft, helping to build and grow global consumer products. Running Touchnote’s mobile offering, he will aim to make mobile photographers everywhere fall in love with the company’s mobile apps.

"There's been an explosion in the amount of photos taken from phones, but we should be able to do much more with what we create. Touchnote can change that. This company has done so much in such a short time - with great partnerships and fanatical customers - and I love that it's not merely trying to dominate a category, but to create a whole new one. Plus, I can feed a huge personal passion of mine: photography."

Freddie Gjertsen worked at Symbian for over six years, most recently serving as Head of Community Innovation, fostering ‘crowd sourced’ innovation. He also previously ran the Product Management team, working to improve company decision making, and led Developer Marketing websites and content. Managing all of Touchnote’s web and server-side offering, he will be responsible for all elements of web experience, ensuring a totally seamless user experience.

Freddie added, "My focus is on delivering a fantastic website that consumers love. No matter how great the product might be at any point in time, we will always be reviewing, refining and looking to improve it to create a the best possible user experience. It's a really exciting challenge."

Raam Thakrar, CEO of Touchnote, commented: "We are absolutely delighted to have attracted Nicholas and Freddie to Touchnote. They both bring a huge wealth of industry knowledge and experience. To me what's most exciting is their passion and their dedication to making customers smile. It's a testament to our growth and achievements that we've been able to attract such high calibre candidates to Touchnote."
