London 20th December, 2010 – Are you a search geek stuck in the office while others enjoy a Christmas break? Well, the SMX Biggest Search Geek contest is a great way to test your Search IQ *and* enter to win some great prizes.

Furthermore, contest sponsor Marin Software has today announced that the competition is opening for entries in the UK. The competition, which has previously been run exclusively in the US over the past three years, could see two UK marketers, who score the highest in the quiz, win a free trip to California to attend Search Marketing Expo – SMX West 2011.

The quiz, which is designed to test the best and brightest minds in the search industry, will follow in the footsteps of previous years and include questions on topics ranging from the latest innovations, to ad grouping and even the history of the search engines. Contestants are not only judged on their knowledge by correct answers, but also tested on how quickly they can answer the questions.

"SMX is the top search conference out there today, so this is a great opportunity for dedicated marketers looking to attend," said last year's winner, Tim Ossmo, of Leapfrog Online. Ossmo took the title last year after getting 80.8% of the questions correct in 699 seconds. In 2009, winner Keri Morgret won the challenge with a score of 76.8% in 3722 seconds.

Those contestants who finish in second and third place will also each win an iPad.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to be the biggest search geek at next year’s Search Marketing Expo – SMX, then go to http://www.biggestsearchgeek.com/?BID=marin to take part in the competition. You never know, it could be you on that plane to California next year!
