Digital agency Essence (www.essencedigital.com) has chosen Mark Nancarrow, former chief executive of Egg, as its chief financial officer. The appointment comes as part of a wider management restructuring at the award winning agency, designed to support its significant growth and ongoing ambitions.

Essence, which was set up in 2005 and counts Google, eBay and Expedia among its clients, has secured billings of £90million and EBIT of £4.1million this financial year. It will create a new group executive committee which will sit below its existing board, to provide strategic and operational direction, as well as marshalling the development of the agency’s client services and technologies.

The new board and committee structure will be as follows:
 Board – will be made up of Essence’s three founding members; Matt Isaacs, Andy Bonsall and Andrew Shebbeare
 Group executive committee – will be formed by:
o Matt Isaacs – chief executive officer
o Mark Nancarrow – chief financial officer
o Joseph Leon – managing director EMEA
o Richard Mooney – managing director North America

Richard Mooney, who has been with Essence since mid-2005, will be responsible for the agency’s recently opened New York office, overseeing continued expansion across North America. He will lead an already nineteen strong team.

Joseph Leon has been with Essence since its inception, and will assume the managing director role in London, building a senior team comprised of both internal and external appointments. Leon’s role covers Essence’s presence across EMEA, involving work in more than 30 countries.

The new appointments and management structure take effect immediately.
