OMD Group [UK] announces today the appointment of Paul Wright as Chief Digital Officer to lead OMD’s agencies, OMD UK and Manning Gottlieb OMD, in their digital output. This follows the promotion of Matt Simpson to the role of head of digital, Omnicom Media Group, for the EMEA region.

Paul is an experienced professional within the media sector, with 23 years in media and marketing, 14 of those in the digital space. He started his career in media at Sky TV in 1988, working in digital sales and sponsorship, rising to become head of interactive in 1996. In 1999, Paul had the opportunity to move client-side, becoming group sales and marketing director at In 2002, he co-founded and became managing director of Aura Sports, a sports-based ad-network; in 2006 this was sold to Sky, to which he returned, ultimately becoming director of sales, Sky Digital Media in 2007.

Leaving Sky in 2008, Paul returned to being an entrepreneur, to run his own digital consultancy. He has operated as an independent digital strategy consultant for Web TV, the Mobile Interactive Group ad Collective, amongst others. He also served in an interim digital marketing role at Bauer Media. During this time Paul was the sole board advisor to Web TV, the UK’s premium video ad network, which he assisted in its sale to Collective in March 2011.

Paul will be responsible for leading the digital offering across OMD UK and Manning Gottlieb OMD, working closely with Will Smyth at OMD UK and Katie Eyton at Manning Gottlieb OMD, and reporting into Steve Williams, chief executive, OMD Group [UK]. These businesses have seen strong growth, particularly across all digital marketing services – notably in Digital Consultancy, Affiliate Marketing, PPC Search, SEO, Social and Mobile - over the last two years.
