Delaware, USA - 14th September 2011 - Explore. To @ is a new type of local search engine currently in public Beta.

In a saturated space full of established, heavyweight competition - Yahoo! Local, Bing, Yelp; heck, even Google - Explore. To believes it has the insight and agility to out perform and out develop traditional players.

As Facebook and Google slug it out on the social battlefield, Explore. To offers users a unique service wrapped in a familiar package.

There are currently more than 13 million businesses in their database (thanks to data platform developer Factual) and a new iteration of that data due in the next few days will bring the number up to around 17 million.

As Explore. To moves forward, data enrichment will be integral to the business process and they are in talks with a plethora of third parties.

For businesses listed on Explore. To, they amalgamate various signals to influence the ranking of search results. Common local ranking signals include keyword relevancy, proximity to location and commercial considerations.

Crucially, Explore. To also incorporates a metric called "ERI" (Explore. To Rank Influencer), which factors in Facebook "Likes" as a primary signal.

This is the first site of its kind to truly be called "Local Social". Both business owners and users have the ability to vote business listings up the search results with "Likes", injecting the local search space with a much-needed dose of agnostic sociability.

Bootstrapped to date, Explore. To expects to be out of Beta in the next few months, with traffic and revenue to present to investors that are already lined up.
