World Usability Day Essay Contest Announced

Fairfield, Iowa, USA – October 7th, 2011.

Human Factors International (HFI), one of the world’s leading providers of user experience design services, has announced an essay contest to coincide with the November 10th, 2011 World Usability Day celebrations.

Contest participants are invited to write a 100-300 word essay about user experience (UX) meltdowns they have witnessed. They are also asked to offer their solution to fix / prevent the meltdown.

“By focusing on UX meltdown stories we can learn how essential it is to institutionalize user experience. It's more efficient to systemically prevent these mistakes than to rework everything after a product is launched.” said Jay More, HFI’s Global President.

Entries will be judged by Dr. Eric Schaffer, HFI’s founder & CEO, and members of the HFI Executive Management Team.

The contest runs from October 5th to November 4th, 2011 and the winners will be announced on the HFI website on World Usability Day, November 10th, 2011. The winning essay will receive an Amazon Kindle Touch and a copy of Susan’s Weinshenk’s book “100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know about People”. Five runners up will each receive Dr. Weinschenk’s book.
