As the nation builds up to the 60th Diamond Jubilee anniversary celebrations in June, bmi, British Midland International has launched a new onboard menu inspired by the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The new onboard menu features seasonal dishes that draw inspiration from the Jubilee celebrations including Coronation Chicken, Royal Potatoes and Queen of Puddings.

The new menu is now available on bmi’s mid haul flights departing after 10am from Heathrow until 30 June 2012.

To celebrate the new menu and the start of the Jubilee celebrations, bmi will be attempting a World Record for the highest tea party today (5 April). The tea party will take place at 30,000 feet on flight BD58 from London Heathrow to Edinburgh and on flight BD61 from Edinburgh to London Heathrow.

The cabin will be decorated with special Union Jack bunting and all customers onboard these two special flights will receive complimentary party food and drink served on special Union Jack plates and cups.

Union Jack sweets and balloons will also complete the party scene in bmi’s business lounges at Heathrow and at the departure gates. Anyone can follow the tea party action on twitter using #bmijubilee.

More bmi events and activities to celebrate the Jubilee will be announced soon and will take place leading up to and including the Jubilee bank holiday weekend.
