Today OMD announces its first head of search position, promoting Andrew Harries, previously search operations director at OMD, to the new role with immediate effect. Andrew will report into Will Smyth, head of digital at OMD.
Andrew started his career in search in 2006 at The Search Works, before joining OMD in 2009 as an associate director. His critical role on the agency’s Shop Direct Group account led to an early promotion to search operations director and it was under his leadership that OMD retained the business in May 2012 following a statutory review.
In his new role, Andrew is responsible for driving OMD’s search operation, which includes both paid search (pay per click) and organic search (search engine optimisation). Andrew will look to further enhance OMD’s mobile, data and technology capabilities in the paid search space, whilst also maximising the agency’s content and outreach strategy in the organic search and social arenas.
