OMD is pleased to announce the promotion of Alex Newman from Head of Mobile, OMD UK, to the newly-created position, Head of Mobile at OMD International and Omnicom Media Group (OMG) EMEA. Adopting the role with immediate effect, Newman will report directly into Jenny Zirinsky, Managing Partner, OMD International.

Newman’s promotion marries the significant industry-wide growth in media investment in mobile since he joined the business in 2006. During his 6 years at OMD UK, Newman pioneered the agency’s mobile offering from scratch, creating a multi-million pound business. Working with over twenty clients, Newman’s team delivered a range of services including mobile media planning and buying, app. development, mobile site builds, creative builds, SMS (short message service), QR (quick response) codes and Augmented Reality.

Under his leadership OMD UK has won numerous industry awards and accolades for mobile, including a Festival of Media Award for Best Use of Mobile and a Cannes Media Lion this year for Best Use of Mobile for the McDonald’s Extended Hours campaign. Alex has also championed mobile thought leadership speaking at events such as the Mobile World Congress and Festival of Media.

On his new role, Newman says: “We all realise the huge importance mobile has for the future of both our clients and our own businesses, so this role carries a significant responsibility. I am very excited to be given the opportunity to formulate OMD’s mobile strategy and client offering across the wider EMEA business.”
