Sydney, 1st August 2012
Econsultancy, the leading global provider of independent education and insight on best practice digital marketing and e-commerce, has today announced its local partnership with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), to launch Australia’s first formally accredited digital marketing and e-commerce qualifications for industry practitioners.
Executive Certificates accredited by UTS will be offered beginning in early 2013 to fill a large digital skills gap in Australia and to address the need for a learning platform with qualifications tailored for the digital industry.
With an emphasis on practical skill development combined with rigorous academic understanding, the Executive Certificates will be offered in a number of digital fields, including Advanced Social Media, Content Marketing and Strategy, E-commerce, Integrated Marketing Communications, eCRM and Reputation Management.
Each course consists of four teaching modules, delivered by specialist practitioners from Econsultancy and UTS, with final assessment through a strategic work-based project. Students will also be supported by online content via personal membership to Econsultancy, as part of the learning programme.
Professor Jim Macnamara, Deputy Dean of the UTS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the programme lead for UTS said:
“These new Executive Certificates represent an important development in digital education in Australia. With the rapid growth of digital industries and practices, there is a growing need for practical skills development. But to achieve Best Practice and incorporate innovation as well as quality, it is important for training and professional development to integrate industry as well as academic knowledge and research. This is what these Executive Certificates will offer for both individuals and organisations.”
“We’re extremely excited to be working with Econsultancy, a global leader in digital publishing and training, in developing and launching these specialist qualifications. It’s a perfect blend of cutting-edge industry research and practice-based insight integrated with academic research and University quality assurance.”
Adding to this, Econsultancy’s Director of Research and Education, Jake Hird, said:
“Having developed these qualifications elsewhere in the world, I’m delighted that we’re now officially launching such a programme localised for the Australian market. UTS is one of the most prestigious and forward-thinking Universities in the region, with an enormous wealth of thought-leadership, knowledge and resources."
“These programmes aim to form the foundations of becoming a competent digital marketing practitioner. The Executive Certificates will enable digital professionals to study the academic side of a specialist subject, gain a formal, University-accredited qualification and apply leanings to their every-day roles – something that is sorely missing from the Australian digital landscape.”
Econsultancy already provides an extensive public training programme, events and localised reports within the region. With this new development, Econsultancy aims to continue being at the educational forefront of the digital marketing and e-commerce industry.
Full details about the courses will be officially available on both Econsultancy and UTS websites by the end of August. For more information, please contact Jake Hird, Econsultancy’s Director of Research and Education.
