FUNDING TO FUEL FURTHER GROWTH AND INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION
London, 21st August 2012: Somo (www.somoglobal.com), the largest independent mobile marketing company, today announces the successful completion of a multi-million dollar funding round to support investment in new mobile technology platforms and accelerated global growth.
The funding has been raised through further support from the original business founders, plus a number of private investors and several Somo employees. It follows a successful year so far for Somo, during which the company opened offices in Singapore and New York, and brought on board a suite of big name clients including AirAsia Expedia, Paddy Power and Red Bull.
Named by Media Momentum as Europe’s fastest growing mobile company earlier this year, Somo has also announced the appointment of Ben Skuse as Chief Finance Officer. Ben, previously CFO at Havas’s largest UK media firm, MPG Media Contacts, is the latest in a series of 2012 hires that have seen staff numbers grow by 30%.
Speaking of the news, Skuse commented, “This investment will enable us to build on the fantastic international growth that Somo has already achieved, and continue our expansion into new mobile product platforms and technologies. Ben’s appointment bolsters an already strong executive team which combines leaders from Overture, Yahoo!, The Search Works, AdMob and Google - some of the most successful digital businesses in recent years.
