Barracuda Digital has launched an interactive tool for marketers to check if their website has been affected by Google’s algorithm updates.
Most marketers who are not new to digital marketing will have gathered that Google has a set of algorithms for organising its search results which are updated frequently. But many do not know if or how these updates have affected their website. Barracuda Digital, a London-based digital marketing agency, has built a tool to aid marketers identify if their website has been affected by a Google update.
Hunting out the reason for a drop in traffic can be stressful to say the least, and not finding the source can be costly. Barracuda Digital’s Panguin Tool allows marketers and webmasters to import their organic Google analytics data and see whether drops in traffic correspond to Google’s algorithm updates.
The tool is interactive and each marked update has an attached summary to instruct on what the given update was about and how it might have affected a website’s traffic.
Luis Navarrete, Head of SEO at Barracuda Digital comments: “It can be difficult to know if you have been hit by an update and it is even harder to find out which update you’ve been hit by. The tool was born out of our own needs and we quickly realised that it could be helpful for marketers and the SEO community“.
Having been live for less than a week, the Panguin Tool has already had over 3000 visits with more than one in five visitors using the tool as was intended.

In social media, The Panguin Tool has netted over 120 tweets, just under 50 Linkedin Shares and a growing number of Facebook and Google+ shares.
