After returning for a second year, the Gallery of Mo has raised more than £9,000 for Movember 2012.

The charity portrait project is the creation of twentysix ( The full-service digital agency has recruited more than 180 artists and illustrators from around the world to create portraits of moustache-wearers in exchange for donations during the month of November to help change the face of men's health.

Supporters can commission their very own personalised portraits by visiting Donors pick an artist, or can ask to have one randomly assigned. The amount they donate to Movember is reflected in the time spent on their portrait.

The Gallery of Mo impressed Movember’s organisers in 2011, after winning design awards and raising £5,000 for men’s health causes. Earlier this month it won the BIMA award for self-promotion, with judges highlighting the project’s “great word of mouth”.

This year Movember has given its full backing and endorsement to twentysix’s campaign. To date, almost 500 portraits have been requested.

Guest artists have also contributed special prizes. A prize draw to become a zombie character in Charlie Adlard’s popular Walking Dead comic book series sold out within days of launching. Creature creator the Felt Mistress has donated a moustachioed sculpture called “Monty”. Tickets to win Monty are priced at £1 each and can be purchased from

twentysix designer Adam Campion explained: “With Movember underway, our volunteer artists, illustrators and designers have been producing hundreds of unique portraits.

“We smashed last year’s fundraising total early in the month, and the Gallery of Mo has become a beacon of fun and creativity for Movember 2012. I would urge anyone – moustache or not – to consider getting a one-of-a-kind portrait created before Movember ends.”
