London, UK – 10 June 2013 -- Econsultancy has launched a new Digital Talent Challenge app. For the first time, the app gives marketers the opportunity to test their knowledge around digital marketing and benchmark their expertise against peers.

The app has been developed to measure marketers’ knowledge around six key digital disciplines: mobile, social media, email marketing, web analytics, display marketing and SEO. Marketers who take up the challenge will quickly be able to see how they measure up against the average for their sector, job level and years of experience.

Launched to coincide with Marketing Week Live 2013, the app is designed to be a useful tool for all marketing professionals, from those well-versed in digital to more traditional marketers.

The app tests marketers knowledge of each discipline around a range of questions, such as ‘What is real-time bidding?’, ‘What is the most accurate explanation of why companies use push notifications within mobile apps?’ and ‘What is the main advantage of using an API to integrate your web database with your mail database?’ The challenge takes just a couple of minutes to complete.

With digital becoming increasingly part of mainstream marketing, Econsultancy views the Digital Talent Challenge as a useful first step for marketers to take when looking to identify where they need to develop their digital competencies.

Econsultancy CEO Ashley Friedlein says: “Today’s marketers need to have a digital mindset if they’re to succeed in a rapidly changing marketing landscape. But it’s not always easy to get an objective measure of digital capabilities. Whether marketers are new to the industry or are seasoned professionals, the Digital Talent Challenge lets them compare themselves with peers and determine where they need to focus their development.”

The app is accessible on http://www.marketingweeklive.co.uk/content/Digital-Talent-Challenge and will also be available in the Marketing Week Live Career Development zone. During the event, Econsultancy will be running a leaderboard where participants can post their results after completing the challenge.

Marketing Week Live takes place on 26 - 27 June at Olympia Grand in London.
