July 2013

Nottingham SEO agency Hallam Internet (http://www.hallaminternet.com/about/) has once again shown its support of the student community by sharing expertise at the annual Institute of Digital Marketing (IDM) Summer School.

Susan Hallam, CEO of Hallam Internet, was called upon to teach the search engine optimisation (SEO) module of the week-long course, which aims to give students a strong foundation in digital marketing through real life examples and expert commentary.

Of her position, Susan said: “It’s always a pleasure to speak at these events. Teaching people who have a real passion to learn about what I do is very rewarding and I’ve already had follow up emails and comments from the students, all of whom are really enthused by the session and keen to get going on their own careers. I believe it’s important that we as business owners do not shy away from sharing our expertise, and teaching students is a fantastic way to help develop the talent of the future.”

James Barrass-Banks, a student who attended the event, said: ““Susan's session was a whistle-stop tour of SEO, highlighting the important areas but also providing us with some useful insights and tools that we could all take with us into our future careers. The IDM Summer School features seasoned professionals such as Susan who allow us to learn from their practical experience. I would wholeheartedly recommend any student who has an interest in marketing to apply as the knowledge it gives you is invaluable.”

The agency is a keen advocate of supporting students and currently employs seven local graduates and leads speaking events at Nottingham Trent University’s Future Factory (http://www.hallaminternet.com/2013/hallam-internet-supports-student-initiative-employs-local-graduates/).

Enterprise education is currently an area of focus for the Department of Education. The Peter Jones Enterprise Qualification was cancelled last week at the Warrington Collegiate in favour of an extended diploma in business, raising concerns for some people that students are not receiving the real life examples and experience they need to succeed in their future careers.
