The globally renowned Local Search Ranking Factors report has been released and this year features Susan Hallam as its sole UK contributor. Susan is Managing Director of leading digital marketing agency Hallam Internet (http://www.hallaminternet.com) and this is her second year participating in the survey.
The annual report provides SEO practitioners, marketers and small business owners with guidance and a clear set of actions for prioritising their local search marketing activities in order to rank well in the Google local search results. Led by local search expert David Mihm, the report features on industry leading Moz's website and each year a select group of SEO experts from across the globe are invited to contribute.
"The practice of Local SEO is always evolving," explains Susan Hallam, who is also the expert contributor in .Net Magazine and chairman of the East Midlands International Trade Association.
"As the Director of an SEO agency here in the UK, I work with clients every day on improving their local presence and keeping abreast of the latest changes to local SEO is the key to success. There are always substantial changes to how Google ranks websites, but this year has introduced even more changes, ranging from changes in Google Maps, to the increasing importance of personalised search results.
"I'm glad to have been able to contribute to this report, but equally recognise that a lot of the research is US based and it will be interesting to see how many of the findings reported are directly applicable to the UK market."
Key findings of the report, released on Moz this week at http://moz.com/local-search-ranking-factors, include the relative importance of signals coming from a wide range of factors, including Google's own Places pages, independent local information providers, web content, inbound linking, and the increasing importance of reviews, mobile behaviour, and personalisation.
