Business owner Susan Hallam has been awarded Entrepreneur of the Year 2013 at this year’s Women in Business Awards after her digital marketing agency Hallam Internet experienced a 100% increase in turnover.
Susan Hallam, a renowned internet marketing expert with a number of accolades to her name, was declared winner of the prestigious award by a panel of judges in a high profile award ceremony in Nottingham.
She has attributed the success of her company, which has grown from 6 employees in 2012 to a projected 14 by next year, to ‘good people’, referring to the skillset and attitudes within her team.
“The growth of Hallam Internet in the past 3 years has been phenomenal and we’ve developed a proud record of delivering successful digital marketing projects for some of the world’s leading brands, as well has having long standing client relationships with a wide range of successful small and medium sized businesses,” explained Hallam.
“We’ve stayed true to our core promise that we are the digital marketing experts throughout the years and I believe it is this which continues to drive the success of the business.
“Of course, none of this would be possible without the team we have here at Hallam. I believe that skills can be taught but that a good attitude is hard to find, so I’m very proud of my team of highly skilled, smart and passionate people whose exemplary attitudes help Hallam Internet to stand out amongst its competitors.
"I’d advise anyone looking to grow their business to focus on finding the right people to make that happen.”
Presenting the Entrepreneur of the Year award, Anna Harding and Laura Pankhurst of Capital FM said, “Despite operating in a highly competitive industry, Susan Hallam, Managing Director of Hallam Internet, has been able to carve a unique niche for the business based on its team of approachable experts, identifying opportunities to develop a sustainable business which employs a highly skilled team taking on some sizeable competitors.”
The success of Hallam Internet is apparent in a reported 100% increase in turnover year on year from FY12-13 to FY13-14. The company has also seen a sizeable increase in employees, going from just 6 team members in 2012 to a forecasted 14 by 2014.
On winning the Entrepreneur of the Year title, Susan Hallam commented, “I’m delighted to be honoured in this way and very grateful to my colleague for nominating me. It’s humbling to be recognised alongside other incredibly inspiring women in business.”
Hallam was one of only eleven award winners at the Women in Business Awards, which took place at the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club. Event organisers the Nottingham Post explained that the Entrepreneur of the Year Award recognises “the woman who has demonstrated that she is building a business of outstanding potential”.
Susan Hallam isn’t a stranger to awards. An acclaimed industry expert, she has received awards including the 2012 Vistage UK Speakers Award and is a Freedom of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists.
