Leading Bristol-based CRM agency, The Real Adventure, has been awarded Best Companies 2014 One Star Status, in its first year of taking part.
Part of the Creston group since 2001, this dynamic, forward-thinking marketing agency is made up of seventy-eight eclectic individuals, from an astrophysicist to a serial marathon runner.
Last November, its staff were invited to complete the Best Companies 2014 confidential survey, and answer a series of questions relating to engagement in the workplace. Designed to cover eight key areas: leadership, personal growth, well-being, teamwork, fairness, managers, the company, and giving something back, the answers are indexed and then ranked to allocate accreditations.
Natasha Adams, Head of HR at The Real Adventure, said ‘We’re delighted to have achieved One Star Status at our first attempt. This is testament to the fact that The Real Adventure is a “best in class” creative employer in Bristol. We’ve always known we are an engaged, enthusiastic and enterprising team of talented people – it’s great to have this recognised through Best Companies.’
The category The Real Adventure scored highest in was ‘My Team’, on account of the company’s dedication to team-building, supporting social events and creating innovative processes to encourage staff creativity, such as Learning Lunches, and Hothouse Creative Ideation sessions.
Second was the ‘My Company’ category, where the company excels in offering staff opportunities to feedback and contribute to agency change. For example, before relocating to Bristol in 2012, the company launched comprehensive collective and individual consultations, which resulted in interest-free season ticket loans, and free breakfast being offered at work.
The Real Adventure’s third highest scoring category was ‘Leadership’, where the agency benefits from having two Joint Managing Directors, who both work closely and frequently with colleagues from all departments, at all levels. The agency’s regular monthly meeting is popular because of the opportunity it affords to keep everyone up to date with the latest work, initiatives and company direction, and to thank people for their contribution.
The survey results have been a welcome confirmation that the company’s core values are not only shared by staff, but are also evident in everyday agency life.
Joint Managing Director at The Real Adventure, Beth Pope, said ‘It’s great to get independent verification of what Real Adventurers have known for some time – that this is a fun agency people feel proud to work for, full of supportive colleagues who care about producing high quality, effective and innovative work.’
The Real Adventure is now featured on the Best Companies site, where prospective employees can use the ‘Best Match’ tool to search for compatible employers, based on which of the eight key areas of engagement in the workplace are most important to them.
