London, 10th May 2005 – Intelligent software leader, Synthetix has broken new ground with the development of a Virtual Advisor for blue chip healthcare company Ultralase, creating a powerful and comprehensive new resource for consumers wanting information on laser eye surgery and Ultralase treatments. The Virtual Advisor, based on Synthetix’s unique SmartAgent technology, is accessible through the Ultralase website (http://www.ultralase.com).
The system enables a dialogue between the user and the Virtual Advisor, covering questions and answers across a broad spectrum of issues relating to laser eye surgery, much in the same way that a patient advisor will do. The natural language interface allows the user to have a conversation with the SmartAgent; users type in questions and it returns plain English responses. Throughout the dialogue the SmartAgent directs the user to relevant sections within the website.
In its first month of operation, the Virtual Advisor has had over 6,000 interactions and assisted over 2,300 people with their questions. Synthetix’s Customer Insight system has recorded and analysed all of the conversations that have taken place and has provided Ultralase, via synthetix.net, with complex custom reports quickly in both textual and graphical formats.
