Tesco has launched the UK’s first one-to-one Online Beauty Consultations using Google + Hangouts. The unique partnership between Google and Tesco was devised and delivered by Tesco’s digital agency Zone.

Customers will be able to book free, confidential 15-20 minute Consultations via video link to industry-leading beauty, make-up, skincare and hair bloggers and experts. Available Monday to Friday, 10am-7pm, the sessions can be booked via the Tesco Beauty Hub at Tesco Living at http://www.tescoliving.com/beauty/consultations/. After each session, customers will receive an e-mail from their beauty expert with a product overview and recommendations.

Zone UK CEO Jon Davie said: “Our insight showed that lots of choice and complicated jargon can make it unnecessarily difficult for people when buying Health and Beauty products. They prefer researching beauty products online to take the risk out of purchasing. Online Beauty Consultations provide a level of anonymity that makes sharing beauty advice easier than ever before.”

The Online Beauty Consultations are the second launch from the pioneering Tesco and Google partnership brokered by Zone. In July 2014, the brand became the first in Europe to use Google’s Connected Classrooms platform in Europe, creating the UK’s first Online Field Trips for primary school children nationwide.

Mark Baxter, Head of Marketing & Strategy at Tesco said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Google + again to provide an online service which supports our customer’s lifestyle choices and needs. The Online Beauty Consultations allow us to offer the same level of personalised service outside our stores, which makes it really convenient and easy for customers.
