Equator has appointed Martin Jordan to the new role of Innovation Director, while Fiona Robertson replaces him as Marketing Director.

Martin, who joined Equator eight years ago, will lead a team focused on developing new technologies and tools and testing emerging channels and applications to explore how they can be used to enhance the service Equator offers to clients.

He said: “Equator has always been focused on digital innovation but the agency is now at a size where we can dedicate an entire team to not only assessing and implementing new technology but also creating our own tools and applications that will be useful to the brands we work in partnership with.

“We are currently playing with lots of exciting new devices and applications such as iBeacons, Oculus Rift, predictive analysis and personalised data tools, all of which have huge potential to transform the way brands communicate with their audiences.”

Equator’s 25-strong digital marketing team will now be led by Fiona Robertson. Fiona, who joins the agency from DigitasLBi, previously worked for Equator from 2006 to 2009. She will be responsible for developing Equator’s SEO, PPC, Display and Affiliate teams.

Fiona said: “I’m really excited about returning to Equator; I’ve got very fond memories of starting my career here and am re-joining at a perfect time as the business is performing well and the Marketing function has delivered some great results and campaigns for our clients.

“Martin is a tough act to follow, however I feel my experience in other agencies stands me in good stead to take things to the next level. I look forward to working with the talented individuals in my team to develop each function, innovate our work at every step, collaborate with each other and ultimately deliver those all-important big numbers. Equator is an exciting place to be and I feel privileged to be a part of the next chapter.”

Ideas agency Equator has been at the forefront of digital technology since it was established in 1999. The company employs 130 people at its Glasgow studio including strategists, creatives, developers, marketers, producers and account handlers.
