Site Confidence, the UK's market leader in website performance monitoring, has launched a load testing service today that will change the way the IT community views the service and its application. The externally hosted, managed service has been developed from the user's perspective and is designed to produce instant, actionable results.

Working with SMT, a research-based consultancy, Site Confidence established that though most IT people believe that load testing is important in determining how visitor traffic affects a site's performance, only 20 per cent of companies actually include load testing in their plans. This is because they find the process too expensive, too complex and with too little control. Site Confidence's outsourced service addresses these issues. There is no software to licence, no hardware to buy, no consultants to pay for and no scripting to get right. Users simply tell Site Confidence what they want to test and everything is then set up. For a flat fee, starting from £5,000, tests can be run over a two-week period and the only limit is on the number of concurrent users

Bill Kirkwood, CEO of Site Confidence said " For the first time users of a load testing product are truly in control. They decide when and what to test, how often to test and where to control the test from. And because our service is online they get the test results immediately.”

James Marsh, Web and Intranet Advisor, National Grid said "We were delighted to take part in the beta test for this new service. National Grid were implementing a new website within a completely new technical infrastructure so we wanted to test how the site would perform under both ordinary day to day and exceptional circumstances. The test highlighted a number of problems we might not have anticipated until we went live and because you get data for every single click you can see what the problem is, what caused it and how to fix it."

The load testing service is available from today and interested users should ring 0870 850 8520 for more information.
