The Usability Company has appointed Karl Havard, formerly of Gomez, as its new sales director, to assist with the company’s recent expansion and merger with WebAbacus.

In his new role, Havard will primarily take responsibility for all sales activities, and will also be a member of the company’s senior management team. Following the recent merger of The Usability Company with WebAbacus, Karl will be in charge of growing the new company’s sales team significantly over the next 12 months.

Havard has six years experience in the Internet industry, and was previously VP of EMEA for Internet performance management firm, Gomez. In his time there, Havard played a crucial role in the formation of Gomez Europe, which was created by the merger of ActualIT Solutions and Webperform. He also secured a phenomenal growth in business for Gomez, and attracted six-figure clients such as Barclays, the Royal Bank of Scotland, Royal Mail, Alliance and Leicester and Citigroup.

Commenting on his appointment, Havard said: “My decision to resign as VP of EMEA for Gomez was a hard one, however, when presented with an opportunity such as this it was impossible to turn down. I truly believe the new company has a very unique offering, and one which Internet businesses are screaming out for. I was also presented with the opportunity to join a fantastic team, and most probably the strongest team in the industry today. I can only see good things ahead.”
