has hired two former MTV Networks executives to launch interactive services for users of its place-shifting devices, according to various media reports.
The company, whose technology allows people to watch their TV remotely from PCs and mobiles, is expected to announce later today that it has recruited ex-chief digital officer at MTV Networks Jason Hirschorn and former VP of MTV digital media Ben White.
The two will concentrate on launching interactive features for Sling Media’s customers; possibly including chat and video sharing. According to Reuters, the firm also plans to announce new media partnerships early next year.
Last month, Sling Media’s European VP Stuart Collingwood told us that it would be in a position to launch community features once it had long term agreements in place with mobile operators and ISPs.
The company is pitching its platform to operators as an alternative means to deliver TV services over 3G and broadband, and tied up with 3 earlier this month.
