YouTube strategy for brands: 10 of the best

Only 74 of the top 5,000 YouTube channels are from brands.

This research comes from Touchstorm’s latest study, The Touchstorm Video Index, covering Q3 2013 and concentrating on the ‘YouTube 5,000’, an elite group of channels with at least 43m views each.

Of those 5,000 channels, only 2% are owned by brands. That means there are 4,926 teenagers with webcams, older people with camcorders, vloggers with flipcams, bedroom animators with smartphones and various other fashionistas, musicians, close-up magicians, action figure critics and amateur film-makers who are completely dominating the platform and squeezing out the big companies.

Sony rolls out digital art platform The Studio globally

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) is rolling out its digital art platform, The Studio, to the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil following huge success in Europe.

The Studio hosts static and dynamic themes from artists, illustrators, graphic and digital designers such as Jasper Goodall, eBoy and Anthony Burrill, which are available to download via the PlayStation Network to personalise the PS3 experience.

PlayStation turns to immersive imaging to promote Video Store

To promote the PlayStation Store’s ‘Video Store’ service, the
company has released three short films that show how a living room can be transformed into an environment that reflects the movie being watched.

Combining real-time tracking, projection mapping and augmented reality, creative agency Studio Output has created what it calls a “a supercharged experience” using immersive imaging and the PlayStation Move controller.

The healthy growth in the video game market has not been dented by the recession according to Nielsen’s newly-releasedState of the Video Gamer‘ report, which looked at console and PC video game usage in the United States for Q4 2008.
