Are you reactive or strategic?

A new year is a great opportunity to pause and take stock. It is a chance to look at how your digital offering evolved over the last year and what opportunities are ahead for 2013.

First, lets look back at last year. How much of your time was spent actively planning the future of your site as opposed to reacting to circumstances and requests for change? Did your digital strategy have clear leadership or was it shaped by events?

What about this coming year? Do you have a clear roadmap for development over the next year? Are things on that roadmap because they will help achieve clear business objectives? How are you going to measure the success or otherwise of your roadmap?

Finally do you have staff in place, not only for the ongoing management of your site, but to think and plan strategically over the long term?

The face of retail in 2013

With the UK being rocked by the closure of major retail chains such as video rental chain Blockbuster and music store, HMV, it’s an important for us all around the globe to look at what the face of retail will be in 2013 and how shopping needs to continue to change with technology.

Some retailers like Nordstrom are already aware of the need to innovate. Major retailers can’t sit back any longer and watch their competitors crumble without thinking they could be next.

How to make sure your content gets links

A lot of the SEO industry has embraced content marketing heavily over the last twelve months.

I’d like to say there is no connection with the Penguin update reducing the effectiveness of some low quality ways of getting links, but I think it did have a lot to do with it!
