Trinity Mirror has continued the revamp of its regional news websites with the relaunch of two of its North East titles, Gazette Live and ne business.co.uk.
Trinity Mirror is making both websites more interactive, with the addition of blogs, videos, and other user-generated content. This is part of a wider revamp of its web properties, which began with its Liverpool news sites in June.
One interesting aspect is the communities section of the GazetteLive site, which is a range of additional websites covering the Teesside area, specific to postcodes in the area.
This is what Trinity Mirror calls ‘hyper-local’ and, despite the intrusive ad on its front page, looks to be a very good idea. Each of the postcode areas has its own blog filled with local news that readers can comment on.
The site has also teamed up with the local university to give students on the mulitimedia journalism course a chance to cut their teeth with some work on the paper’s blogs.
The nebusiness.co.uk site has had a similar makeover, with more focus on blogs and videos, and the addition of a local business directory, along with interviews with local business figures.
